A 57-year-old man was shot and killed inside a vehicle in Miramar on Wednesday afternoon.

Officers were called at 4:01 p.m. Wednesday to the 8600 block of Production Avenue regarding reports of a man who had been found shot while seated in the front passenger seat of a vehicle.

The victim was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, said Lt. Travis Easter of the San Diego Police Department.

Immediately after the shooting, a suspect ran northbound from the scene. Witnesses described him as a white man in his 40s, wearing a black shirt and dark colored shorts.

Police searched the area and a nearby RV that was parked and possibly associated with the suspect, but were unable to find him.

The suspect remains at large.
