
All lanes of I-15 were reopened Saturday morning in the Miramar area near State Route 163, after Escondido Police officers opened fire on an SUV on Friday.
The shooting took place around 5 p.m. Friday and left a woman injured, according to the Escondido Police Department. It happened after a police pursuit that began at about 4 p.m. in the North County city and ended in a collision on the southbound side of the freeway.
Paramedics took the unidentified woman to a hospital in unknown condition, Sgt. Andrew Maxwell said. No other injuries were reported.
Police did not release further details of the incident on Saturday, including how the pursuit began, the woman’s identity, or the extent of her injuries.
The shooting caused a complete closure of the southbound lanes of I-15 in the area, Caltrans reported.
Lanes were reopened at around 11 a.m. Saturday.
