One person was killed Thursday when a vehicle veered off a rural roadway and struck an embankment.
The fatal crash happened on state Route 78 at Weekend Villa Road in Ramona shortly before 4 p.m. Thursday, according to the California Highway Patrol.
One person died at the scene of the accident, which forced a closure of SR-78, the CHP reported.
