The suspect remained at large Saturday in the shooting of a teen boy at Kimball Park in National City, police said.

Officers responded to reports of shots fired at the park shortly before 8:30 p.m. Friday, according to a news release by the National City Police Department.

They learned that following an altercation between a group of young males, a 17-year-old boy had been shot and the suspect had fled the scene.

The victim’s wound is considered life-threatening. He was transported to a local trauma unit.

He was listed in critical condition Saturday, Detective Sgt. Mark Segal said.

Detectives continue to investigate. The department’s Investigations Division is asking that anyone with information about the shooting call the NCPD non-emergency number, 619-336-4411.
