Detectives are investigating an apparent murder-suicide that took place Saturday morning in Oak Park, according to a lieutenant from the San Diego Police Homicide Unit.

Southeastern Division police officers responded to a domestic violence shooting call in the 5500 block of Timothy Drive at 9:47 a.m.

Upon arrival, they found a black woman in her 50s suffering from a gunshot wound to her upper torso. She died at the scene as police provided aid to her.

In a separate room, police found a black man, also in his 50s, dead from a gunshot wound to the head.

Both individuals lived at the residence, said Lt. Arturo Swadener, but the details of the relationship between the man and woman are not yet known.

Swadener said the scene is contained and that there is no evidence that the shooter came from outside the residence.
