Two Oceanside police officers suffered injuries Saturday in a head-on collision in Bonsall with a vehicle they had been pursuing.
At around 5:30 p.m., the Jeep being chased went off the road and struck an Oceanside police cruiser in the 31200 block of Via Puerta del Sol, according to OnScene.TV. The impact caused airbags to deploy in both vehicles.
Both officers were taken to a waiting ambulance and transported to a medical center.
The California Highway Patrol classified the wreck as a “traffic collision with minor injuries” on a log that displays current incidents.
The Jeep had three occupants, minors according to OnScene, and apparently had been pursued by police more than once Saturday. Fire personnel were evaluating the injuries, if any, suffered by the motorists in the Jeep.
The CHP reported that Oceanside police had asked other law enforcement to “be on the lookout” for a newer model Jeep Wrangler Rubicon, whose driver was being sought for felony evading.
