Three Ecuadorian nationals were rescued by the Coast Guard Thetis crew on Thursday after their vessel became disabled in the Pacific Ocean near San Diego.
During a routine patrol on Wednesday, the crew members discovered three mariners waving their arms and signaling for distress, according to the United States Coast Guard Pacific Southwest.
U.S. Coast Guard officials stated that District 11 assumed the role of the search and rescue with the assistance of the Thetis crew.
“The crew launched the cutter’s small boat crew and discovered three Ecuadorian nationals reporting they had run out of fuel, food, and water,” the agency said in a statement.
“The Thetis crew safely embarked the survivors, who showed no medical concerns.”
The procedures for repatriating the rescued mariners are pending.
