Burglars rammed a vehicle into a high-end eyeglasses retailer in La Jolla early Tuesday, causing tens of thousands of dollars in damages and knocking over a saltwater aquarium, killing all the fish.
Officers responded at around 4 a.m. Tuesday to reports of broken glass at EyeStructure at 1232 Prospect St., according to the San Diego Police Department.
The front of the store, windows and display cases had been broken by the suspect vehicle. According to Onscene.Media, a large saltwater aquarium that the business had on display was also knocked over, and its fish, including a large lionfish, were killed.
Store damages of at least $100,000 were estimated based on observations from the owner and officers on scene, police said. However, it was unclear how much merchandise was stolen.
The suspects were at large. Descriptions were not immediately available.
