The San Diego Sheriff’s Office’s Lemon Grove substation held a DUI checkpoint Sunday, resulting in two alcohol arrests, two towed vehicles, and 20 citations for operating a vehicle without a license.
A total of 922 cars passed through the checkpoint stationed near Broadway and Kempf St. in the city of Lemon Grove between 2 to 10 p.m.
The location was determined based on recent reports of impaired driving-related accidents.
According to the results of the sobriety checkpoint, 77 cars were sent to secondary for evaluation and two out of three DUI evaluations resulted in an alcohol arrest. No DUI drug arrests were made Sunday night.
Funding for the checkpoint was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
