A man accused of being in possession of a ghost gun may face new charges after investigators discovered machines used for manufacturing firearms at a Ramona residence.

Detectives served a search warrant at a home in the 500 block of D Street, where they seized the machinery, along with illegal magazines, ammunition and various pieces of firearms, the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

They conducted the search Wednesday, two days after a patrol from the Ramona Sheriff’s Substation stopped a Chevrolet Colorado near the intersection of 10th and B Street. They suspected the motorist was using expired registration tags.

The deputies arrested the driver, Brandon Nichols, 24, officials said, after finding a loaded, privately manufactured firearm, which are not marked with serial numbers, making them impossible to track.

They booked him into San Diego Central Jail on charges of possessing an undetectable firearm. He was later released on bond.
