A suspicious device was found Thursday at the transit center in Encinitas, prompting a temporary closure of the station and disruptions to Coaster service.

Deputies were sent to the station at around 8:45 a.m. Thursday and soon requested a bomb-arson unit and a bomb-sniffing K-9 to inspect the device, according to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office.

The station, at 25 East D St., also serves Breeze bus routes.

The North County Transit District announced various service delays and detours due to the law enforcement activity.

For a time, northbound Coaster 625 service ended at Solana Beach, with Breeze buses offered as alternatives. Service was back on schedule around 11:20 a.m.
