California Highway Patrol officers are investigating the circumstances surrounding a multi-vehicle collision that killed at least one person and left one car on fire on the northbound 5 freeway in San Diego.
The CHP responded at 11:34 p.m. Tuesday to the northbound freeway and Dairy Mart Rd., where they found a blue SUV and another vehicle blocking the middle lanes of the freeway, a spokesperson said.
The victim whose name, age, and gender was not immediately known was pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash blocked several lanes of the freeway and triggered a SigAlert for two hours while the CHP investigated the cause of the collision.
