
A pedestrian was left in critical condition after being struck by a pickup truck on Third Avenue in Chula Vista.
At approximately 8:50 p.m. Wednesday, police officers were flagged down in the
1400 block of Third, where they learned that a black Chevrolet Silverado traveling northbound had struck an adult pedestrian, according to a Chula Vista Police Department news release.
The person was unconscious, but breathing. The officers, joined by Chula Vista Fire
Department personnel, provided life-saving measures to the pedestrian, who was sent to a nearby hospital for treatment.
The driver and other occupants of the Silverado remained on scene and cooperated with officers. Alcohol and/or drug impairment are not suspected as factors in the collision.
The department’s Traffic Bureau is investigating the incident. The cause has yet to be determined. Anyone who witnessed the person being struck or has additional information is asked to contact the CVPD bureau at 619-395-4106.
