A man has been identified as a suspect in a structure fire at an abandoned Mission Valley dance club on Christmas Day.
Joel Humphrey, 47, was arrested on Dec. 31, 2024, for allegedly recklessly starting a fire at the location of what was once the In Cahoots Dance Hall and Saloon at 5300 Mission Center Road., but which has now been abandoned for many years, said the San Diego Police Department in a release.
There was a fire in the same building in late October. While the October fire is considered suspicious, it is not thought to be connected to the December incident, and Humphrey is not considered a suspect in the previous fire. That incident remains under investigation.
Both fires were considered suspicious and are being investigated by the Metro Arson Strike Team. Anyone with information is asked to call either MAST at (619) 236-6815 or contact San Diego Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477.
