A search and rescue effort became a recovery after a man reported seeing a body on the beach getting carried out to sea.
The San Diego Police Department and San Diego Fire-Rescue joined lifeguards to respond to a 911 call at 5:00 a.m. Monday reporting a body face-down on the beach near the end of Bermuda Ave. getting carried out to sea by waves.
Rescue teams searched for over an hour and found no sign of the person at first, but lifeguards were able to find the body in the waves after the sun rose.
According to Onscene.Media, there are reports that a man went into the ocean on Sunday and vanished, but it remains unclear whether it is the same person.
The medical examiner’s office is investigating the cause of death.
