A vehicle hit a 77-year-old woman and 82-year-old man on a South Bay roadway Tuesday, severely injuring them.
The pedestrians were apparently jaywalking when they were struck in the 600 block of J Street in Chula Vista shortly before 9:30 a.m., according to police.
Paramedics took them to a hospital, where they were admitted in serious but stable condition, Officer Justin Turner said.
Intoxication did not appear to have been a factor in the accident, according to police.
