Alcohol is believed to be a factor in a serious injury crash in Logan Heights early Thursday, when a car smashed into at least two parked vehicles before hitting a power box.
The crash happened at 1:39 a.m. Thursday at 3100 Ocean View Blvd., the San Diego Police Department said.
The 21-year-old driver of a red 2019 Chevrolet Malibu traveling westbound veered to the left and into the eastbound lanes.
The Malibu crashed into an unoccupied truck, pushing it backward into an unoccupied car parked behind the truck, police said.
The Malibu continued forward onto a sidewalk where it hit a San Diego Gas & Electric power box, knocking it from its base and exposing live wires. The car then caught fire.
An SDPD Sgt. reportedly then pulled the driver out of the burning car.
According to Onscene.Media, there was also a passenger in the car at the time. The passenger was not injured.
The Malibu driver was taken to a hospital, where he was treated for a broken leg.
SDPD’s Traffic Division is handling the crash investigation.
