A motorist died Thursday in Chula Vista after he was ejected from his motorcycle and hit by a vehicle, police said.

The fatality in the 700 block of Telegraph Canyon Road was reported by several callers at around 4:44 p.m., according to Chula Vista police.

The victim had been riding a black and silver Suzuki GSXR1000 westbound when he hit the median and lost control. The impact threw him from the motorcycle and into the eastbound lanes where he was hit by a Honda Accord.

The cyclist, whose name is being withheld, died at the scene, police said. The Honda driver, a female, 56, from Spring Valley, is cooperating with the Chula Vista police Traffic Bureau, which is investigating the collision. Alcohol and/or drug impairment is not suspected as a factor in the collision.

The accident forced a temporary closure of Telegraph Canyon between Medical Center Drive and Paseo del Rey. The stretch of roadway was expected to remain shut down until about 9 p.m., Adkins said.
