
Two drivers were arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol over the weekend at a checkpoint, according to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office.
The checkpoint was conducted from 9 p.m. Saturday to 2 a.m. Sunday near Broadway and Kempf Street, the sheriff’s office said in a statement.
A total of 257 vehicles went through the checkpoint and 29 vehicles were sent to a secondary inspection point for evaluation by deputies.
There were six vehicle drivers who were evaluated for driving under the influence and two drivers were arrested for DUI, the sheriff’s statement said.
Seven drivers received citations for operating an unlicensed vehicle and one driver received a citation for not having a driver license with them.
Funding for the DUI checkpoint was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety.
