Authorities have publicly identified a woman who was fatally struck by a vehicle this week in a neighborhood near Tijuana Slough National Wildlife Refuge.

A passing motorist spotted Tamara Chambers, 44, lying in the roadway in the 1100 block of Connecticut Street in Imperial Beach at about 10:45 p.m. Wednesday, then saw another vehicle run over her and continue on to the east, according to the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Chambers, who was homeless, died at the scene, the agency reported.
