
A man who was kicked out of a market east of Petco Park Thursday for causing a disturbance allegedly responded by stabbing an employee in the hand, authorities said.
Workers at the store in the 1200 block of Imperial Avenue ejected Juan Flores-Puga, 37, at about 1 p.m. for being unruly and apparently intoxicated, according to San Diego police.
The suspect allegedly reacted by pulling a knife and attacking one of the employees, a 41-year-old man, Off. David O’Brien said. Following the assault, transit security personnel detained the suspect, according to police.
Paramedics took the victim to a hospital for treatment of a laceration to his left hand.
Officers booked the suspect into San Diego Central Jail on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon.
