
A woman walking in traffic on Interstate 5 died early Thursday after being struck by two vehicles, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Just before 4 a.m. Thursday, the unidentified pedestrian, walking within the southbound lanes north of Dairy Mart Road, was hit by a Ford Fusion driven by a 41-year-old male from Tijuana. The pedestrian was then struck by an unknown vehicle which left the scene.
The victim sustained major injuries and was pronounced dead on the scene. Her name is being
withheld pending notification of next of kin by the San Diego County Medical
Examiner’s office.
The driver of the Ford is cooperating with authorities. A toxicology report is pending
through the Medical Examiner’s office to determine if alcohol/and or drugs were a factor.
All southbound lanes of I-5 north of Dairy Mart were closed during the investigation, being conducted by the CHP.
