An arrest has been made in an allegedly intentional hit-and-run incident in Lemon Grove last week that left a man dead.
Deputies responding to a report that a person had been struck by a vehicle in the 8200 block of Broadway at about 2:15 a.m. last Monday arrived to find Brian Colvin of Spring Valley in the roadway, badly injured but conscious, according to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department.
He later died from his injuries.
According to witnesses, Colvin had been standing in the road in front of a vehicle, speaking with its occupants. A few seconds later, the vehicle accelerated, appeared to intentionally run him down, and then left the area.
An investigation identified 45-year-old Nicholas Hoskin of El Cajon as the suspect. He was arrested by the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office’s Major Offender Task Force in Grand Junction, Colorado on July 25.
Hoskin is now awaiting extradition to San Diego County.
Law enforcement is now looking for the vehicle, which is described as a 2017 Dodge Ram 1500 SLT Quad Cab 4X2 with chrome trim, running boards, mud flaps, and a tow hitch, bearing a California license plate with the number 51340A2.
