A 74-year-old bicyclist was gravely injured Tuesday in a solo crash on a Mira Mesa-area thoroughfare, authorities reported.
The man lost control of his two-wheeler for unknown reasons shortly before 8:30 a.m. while heading north in the 10700 block of Camino Santa Fe, south of Calle Cristobal, according to the San Diego Police Department.
The bicycle hit a curb and toppled over, sending the rider tumbling onto the roadway, SDPD Officer Sarah Foster said.
Paramedics took the man to a hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries, including a brain bleed, a broken collarbone and several fractured ribs, according to police.
