The 63-year-old driver of a pickup truck was killed Wednesday in a head-on collision in Ramona.

The Ramona resident was headed west on State Route 78 at about 3:30 p.m. when the Chevrolet S-10 he was driving veered to the left and crashed into an oncoming Isuzu box truck, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The man died at the scene. His name was withheld pending family notification.

The 46-year-old man from El Cajon driving the Isuzu suffered no injuries in the collision, CHP public affairs officer Jared Grieshaber said.

Intoxication was not believed to have been a factor in the collision, according to the CHP.
