Three people were injured, one of them critically, in a vehicle collision over the weekend in the Pacific Beach neighborhood, the San Diego Police Department reported Monday.

The crash was reported just after 6:30 p.m. Sunday on Mission Bay Drive and the northbound Interstate 5 off-ramp, SDPD said.

A 34-year-old man driving a 2022 Chevrolet Malibu broadsided a Toyota Prius driven by a 76-year-old man and with a passenger, police said. All three were taken to a hospital.

The Malibu driver suffered a ruptured lung, while the Prius passenger suffered a ruptured diaphragm, which authorities described as life-threatening. The Prius driver said he was in pain, but no further details were available.

According to SDPD, the Prius driver appeared to be under the influence and authorities will issue a full collision report.
