Authorities have publicly identified a 62-year-old man who was killed last week in a late-night suspected DUI crash in a coastal neighborhood near San Dieguito Lagoon.
John Fraser of Solana Beach was a passenger in a northbound 2019 Maserati GranTurismo that veered off the roadway in the 2000 block of Coast Boulevard in Del Mar about 11:55 p.m. June 19 and struck a parked pickup truck and a palm tree, according to the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Following the crash, the driver, 52-year-old Elizabeth Brooks, allegedly fled on foot. Paramedics took Fraser — described as a friend of Brooks’ — to Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla, where he was pronounced dead about 45 minutes after the crash.
Deputies later tracked down Brooks and arrested her, sheriff’s Sgt. Jeremy Collis said. She was hospitalized for treatment of injuries she had suffered in the car crash before being booked into county jail on suspicion of driving while intoxicated and gross vehicular manslaughter.
