A motorcyclist was killed Friday in a crash on a backcountry road in the eastern San Diego County highlands.
The victim’s two-wheeler veered off State Route 78 about 12:15 p.m. Friday and struck a tree near Casner Road in the Ballena area, east of Ramona, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The rider, whose identity was not immediately available, died at the scene of the crash, the CHP reported.
