One man is in critical condition after he was shot by an unknown assailant Saturday night in Vista.
According to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department, a 22-year-old man was shot around 8:30 p.m. Saturday as he was walking in the 300 block of S. Santa Fe Avenue.
Deputies and paramedics found the victim and took him to a local hospital, where he remains in critical condition.
Law enforcement responded to another shooting nearby about an hour later. It is unknown whether the two shootings were related, but authorities said that they are currently being investigated as separate incidents.
“Currently, there are no suspects in custody for either shooting but we have no reason to believe the public is any danger,” said Sheriff’s Department Lt. George Crysler. “We will provide updated information as it becomes available.”
