A man who allegedly molested a child last week while employed as a campus supervisor at Diegueño Middle School in Encinitas was behind bars Tuesday, authorities reported.
Omar Hernandez Galeana, 21, is suspected of meeting with and sexually assaulting the 12-year-old during non-school hours on Friday, according to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department.
Child-abuse detectives arrested Galeana on Sunday, Lt. Lon Nguyen said. He was booked into county jail in Vista on suspicion of committing lewd and lascivious acts with a person under age 14 and furnishing marijuana to a minor.
Officials disclosed no additional details about the case.
“Because the victim is a minor, the Sheriff’s Department cannot release any further information at this time,” Nguyen said Tuesday.
Galeana was being held on $1 million bail pending an arraignment hearing scheduled for Wednesday afternoon.
Galeana’s arrest marks the third instance within the past week where a San Diego County school employee was accused of sex-related offenses, according to ABC 10 News.
The station cited the arrests last week of a Mt. Caramel High School teacher on 17 charges related to her inappropriate relationship with a student and principal at Hoover High School on child porn charges.
