An errant power line set fire to a canopy behind a Hillcrest home early Thursday, causing an estimated $20,000 worth of damage.
The non-injury blaze erupted shortly after 4 a.m. Thursday in the 1200 block of Brookes Terrace, according to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.
Crews confined the flames to the awning and had the fire under control within about 15 minutes, officials said.
It was unclear why the electrical line fell onto the structure.
