A vehicle fatally struck a pedestrian Wednesday on Interstate 15 in Tierrasanta, authorities reported.
The traffic fatality occurred at about 1:45 p.m. on the northbound side of the freeway, just south of Aero Drive, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The pedestrian, described only as male, died at the scene.
The fatality forced a closure of four of the five northbound lanes of I-15 in the area for a time and led to heavy congestion along a stretch of the commuter route into the late afternoon, the CHP advised.
