A parolee was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of intentionally setting several fires this week at the Kearny Mesa studio of Fox 5 San Diego, authorities reported.
An arson detective searching for Dimitrius Dominique Cannon, 41, found him at about 9 a.m. in the 7300 block of Clairemont Mesa Boulevard, several blocks northeast of the news station’s offices, and took him into custody, according to the San Diego Police Department.
Cannon allegedly set fire to three vehicles, a security-gate access pad, a sensor and the front entry door to the station at about 9:45 a.m. Monday, SDPD Lt. Daniel Meyer said.
Security cameras allegedly captured images of the in-progress crimes, helping investigators identify Cannon as the suspected arsonist.
“Evidence was recovered from Cannon linking him to the (case),” Meyer said.
Cannon was booked into San Diego Central Jail on suspicion of six counts of arson and parole violation. He was being held on $75,000 bail pending arraignment, scheduled for Friday afternoon.
