The U.S. Coast Guard and Border Patrol were notified Tuesday of an empty panga boat found at Mission Beach.
The boat, commonly used in human smuggling, was found by a city employee who was cleaning the beach at Ventura Place, OnScene TV said.
Ten life preservers were found on the beach with many footprints seen in the sand running toward the boardwalk, the video news service said. There were also gas cans found in the boat.
