Cal Fire San Diego held a brush fire in Valley Center to 8 acres Sunday, saving at least two threatened structures.

The fire broke out shortly before 11 a.m. Sunday near the intersection of Lilac Road and Couser Canyon Road.

Cal Fire warned that the blaze could grow to 50 acres and threaten two structures, but crews brought it under control by noon.

The agency said firefighters will remain on scene to mop-up and strengthen control lines.

The San Diego County foothills, mountains and deserts are experiencing fire weather conditions with high heat and low humidity.
