A woman was seriously injured in the head early Tuesday morning when she was attacked in a City Heights park by a man wielding a sword, police said.
Just before 2 a.m., San Diego Police officers responded to a Starbucks coffee shop in the 3800 block of Fairmount Avenue where a heavily bleeding woman was banging on the door, according to Officer Sarah Foster.
The victim said she was hit on the head with a sword while at a picnic table in Officer Jeremy Henwood Memorial Park on Wightman Street, the officer said. The suspect fled the area in an unknown direction.
The injured person was rushed to Scripps Mercy Hospital. Police said her large head wound was being treated and was believed to be non-life-threatening.
