
A vegetation fire near Potrero County Park, which burned 64 acres and prompted evacuation orders, was stopped by late afternoon Sunday.
Cal Fire San Diego reported just after 5 p.m. that crews had halted the forward rate of spread of the Park Fire. Firefighters will remain on scene for mop-up and containment line construction. A road closure remains in place at Potrero Valley Road between Highway 94 and Potrero Park Drive.
The agency had sought additional resources for structure defense for the fire, first reported at five acres by officials on social media at 2:55 p.m.
It had grown to 20 acres by 3:55 p.m. and to 40 by just before 4:10 p.m.
Evacuation warnings and orders were in effect for the area of Potrero Valley Road. A temporary evacuation point was set up at Steele Canyon High School, 12440 Campo Road, Spring Valley.
No injuries have been reported.
