Police arrested a driver on suspicion of DUI after an early-morning crash Sunday at a Hillcrest intersection.

A male driver, behind the wheel of a Dodge Challenger, allegedly ran a red light as he drove west on Washington Street at Fourth Avenue after 3 a.m., according to OnScene.TV.

The Challenger struck a red hatchback that was southbound on Fourth, causing it to hit a third car, a Toyota Camry, that had been waiting in the left-turn lane on Fourth.

The Dodge proceeded to hit a street light, which fell across the center divider.

Medics sent the driver of the red car to the hospital with unknown injuries. The third motorist escaped unscathed.

San Diego police and firefighters responded to the scene.
