A man was shot in his leg in a parking lot at Fashion Valley on Friday evening and taken to a hospital.
San Diego police were called at 9:54 p.m. to the mall in Mission Valley after the victim walked into a Cheesecake Factory restaurant and told employees he had been shot in one of the center’s parking lots, Officer Robert Heims told City News Service.
The suspect, a man believed to be in his 20s, approached the victim’s car and demanded his money and cell phone at gunpoint, but a struggle occurred in which the firearm discharged, striking the victim in the upper thigh, according to police.
The suspect fled the scene in an unknown direction. It was unclear what, if anything, he took.
