One person was killed and another wounded when shots were fired at a Juneteenth celebration at Liberty Station early Saturday night.
San Diego Police Lt. Adam Sharki said the shots rang out at 6:45 p.m. after a dispute of some sort.
“This was not an active shooter event, or anything of that type,” he told reporters. “This appears to be an isolated incident.”
Reports from the scene indicated that as many as 500 people were attending the celebration, which was nearing its end when the shots were fired.
No information about the victims or a possible suspect was immediately available.
Sharki urged anyone with information to call police or contact San Diego County Crime Stoppers.
