July is around the corner and the city of El Cajon and Heartland Fire & Rescue Department is inviting the community to its Dog Days of Summer event, on Saturday, July 1, from 9 a.m. to noon at the El Cajon Fire Station.
The family-friendly day and free event will offer activities centered around beloved four-legged friends at 100 Lexington Avenue, El Cajon.
One of the highlights of the event will be the opportunity to meet Yara, California’s first full-time fire station wellness dog. Yara has quickly become a cherished member of the firefighting team, providing comfort and support to brave firefighters.
The Heartland Fire & Rescue team will be available to share heartwarming stories and insights about Yara’s role in promoting wellness and camaraderie within the department.
In addition to meeting Yara, families will enjoy engaging tours of the fire station, where they will have the chance to explore the facilities and gain insight into the crucial work firefighters do daily. A fun day for children and adults alike to learn about fire safety and the important role firefighters play in protecting the community.
For all the dog lovers in attendance, there will be an extra treat in store; families are encouraged to bring their canine companions to join in the fun.
Thanks to the generous support from Camp-Run-a-Mutt, free dog washes will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Pamper your furry friends and give them a refreshing wash to beat the summer heat.
