A woman was killed and two other women were rushed to a hospital with major injuries Wednesday after a car veered off the road and overturned in the Otay Mesa area of San Diego, according to California Highway Patrol.
At approximately 3:15 a.m., a white BMW was traveling on the southbound Interstate 805 transition ramp to westbound state Route 905 when the 18-year-old driver lost control of the car, causing it to leave the roadway and flip over, the CHP said.
A San Diego Fire Department rescue crew arrived on the scene, ripped the car’s roof off, and pulled all three women out of the wreckage. One of the passengers was pronounced dead at the scene. Her identity was being withheld pending family notification.
The condition of the other two passengers was still unknown. CHP officials are investigating the cause of the crash. Anyone who may have witnessed the accident was asked to call the CHP at 858-293-6000
