A woman died Friday evening in Talmadge after a hit-and-run driver struck her as she tried to cross the street.
The unknown driver fled eastbound from the site of the collision, in the 5000 block of El Cajon Boulevard at about 7:20 p.m., according to OnScene.TV. While she was on the ground, a Toyota Camry also hit her, police said.
Authorities attempted CPR on the victim, but she was pronounced dead at the scene. Police did not release her identity, but said she was in her 50s.
San Diego police officers blocked the boulevard in both directions from Winona Avenue to Altadena Avenue as the investigation continued.
The department said in a Twitter post that investigators expected the closure to last several hours.
