An arson investigation was underway Friday after an SUV was found on fire in Otay Mesa.

Police responded to reports of a blast in the 3700 block of Clavelita Street, where they found an SUV on fire around 6 a.m. Friday, according to the San Diego Police Department.

Witnesses told police that something was thrown from a white Honda, which sped away shortly before the call.

Firefighters put out the blaze that charred the interior of the vehicle, as reported by OnScene.TV.

The San Diego Fire & Rescue Metro Arson Strike Team was investigating the incident.
