Two San Diego children who went missing Tuesday morning were found unharmed later in the day with their mother, who does not have legal custody of them.

Officers recovered Esher and Hendricks Holtwick, ages four and six respectively, after pulling over 44-year-old Elizabeth Holtwick on southbound Interstate 15 in Mission Valley, according to San Diego police.

It was not immediately clear if the mother will face charges for allegedly taking custody of her children in violation of court guardianship stipulations.
