Two pedestrians were struck and killed by Amtrak trains Sunday in separate incidents just hours apart.

Deputies were dispatched at 1:05 a.m. to the Sorrento Valley Station, where the victim was pronounced dead at the scene, said Sgt. Jason King of the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department.

In the second incident, just before 11a.m., a second pedestrian was killed near the Leucadia Boulevard crossing in Encinitas.

The identities of the two victims have not yet been released.

Deputies urged anyone with information regarding the death to call the the Sheriff’s Transit Enforcement Unit at 858-565-5200.
