The San Diego Sheriff’s Bomb/Arson Unit is investigating three explosions of homemade bombs across Vista on Wednesday.

The devices went off over a period of three hours in open areas and parking lots along a two-mile stretch. Two small fires were started but quickly extinguished.

The times and locations of the explosions were:

  • 11:30 a.m. in the 900 block of East Vista Way
  • 1:24 p.m. in the 100 block of E. East Drive
  • 2:41 p.m. in the 400 block of East Drive

The sheriff’s department said there was “no obvious target or motivation.” No one was hurt and there was no damage to property.

Deputies urged anyone who finds a device that seems suspicious or out of place to call 9-1-1 immediately.

Officials announced late Thursday that a $5,000 is being offered for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the bombings.

San Diego County Crime Stoppers routinely offers $1,000 rewards on felony cases. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) provided an additional $4,000 in the bombing case.

Call the Crime Stoppers anonymous tip line at (888) 580-8477 or provide information online.
