A 31-year-old woman riding an electric scooter was hospitalized Saturday after she broadsided an Uber driver in downtown San Diego’s East Village.

San Diego Police were called at 12:06 a.m. to 11th Avenue and E Street. Officer Robert Heims said the scooter rider was heading east on E Street when she entered the intersection against a red light and hit the Toyota Sienna driven by a 64-year-old man.

The scooter rider suffered an open fracture of her left lower leg and was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The department’s traffic division is investigating the collision. Anyone with information related to it was asked to call 858-495-7800 or San Diego County Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477.
