
A customer stabbed an employee in the back Friday at Westfield UTC mall before fleeing, police said.
San Diego police officers responded about 6 p.m. to the GNC store following reports of the stabbing. They found the male victim suffering from multiple stab wounds.
He was taken to a hospital in unknown condition.
Police learned the employee argued with a customer who was attempting to make a return at the store. The customer took an item and attempted to leave, but the employee stopped him outside.
The customer then stabbed the employee several times in the back, picked up the item and fled on foot. He headed eastbound on Town Center Drive.
The suspect was described as a light-skinned Latino or white male between 23 and 25 years old with a shaved head. He was last seen wearing a gray sweatshirt and blue jeans.
