A 29-year-old woman who died in an apartment complex parking lot in Spring Valley had multiple stab wounds, authorities said Saturday.

The San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the woman as Ericka Joyce Wilson, who was married to 29-year-old suspect Kandynn Taylor Wilson, but the couple were estranged, according to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department.

Deputies investigating reports of a person crying for help in the 1600 block of Canyon Road shortly before midnight Thursday found the unconscious victim lying in a parking lot with traumatic injuries to her upper body, according to sheriff’s officials.

Paramedics pronounced the victim dead at the scene, Lt. Joel Stranger said.

Investigators found Kandynn Taylor Wilson a few blocks from the site of the woman’s death. He was arrested on suspicion of murder after questioning by homicide detectives.

The motive for the homicide was still under investigation, Stranger said.

Wilson was being held at San Diego Central Jail without bail pending arraignment, scheduled for Tuesday afternoon.
